Ma Mì Eatery, a fast-casual Vietnamese restaurant, now open in Closter

A new fast-casual Vietnamese restaurant, ma mì Eatery, has opened in Closter. Owners Amy Nguyen and Joseph Diovisalvo are part of the family that owns Simply Vietnamese in Tenafly. The husband and wife team, who live in Fort Lee, were looking to open a "fun and playful concept" serving an "all-day menu for a quick bite" and "an easy intro" for those who haven't tried Vietnamese cuisine before. Ma mì serves banh mi sandwiches, pho soup, bao buns, salads and more in a casual setting that seats 16 to 20 people; the restaurant also hopes to do a takeout business. Nguyen and Diovisalvo gutted what used to be a Subway sandwich shop, adding a full kitchen and fully renovating the space. "Ma" comes from paying tribute to Joseph's mother and grandmother, while "mì" means bread or noodle in Vietnamese. Ma mì' Eatery's menu ranges from $6.95 to $12.95 and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. 546 Durie Ave., Closter, 201-660-7826, mamieatery.com.
